A man who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight children and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he ran.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to play the "treat game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
